Vintage Industrial Louie Cafe Table

By | cafe table, commercial furniture, dining table, end table, side table | 4 Comments

Last week I had an idea for a new restaurant cafe table. I started with a solid steel 2″ screw for the base. It pierces through the table top and has a 3″ nut which makes a very interesting focal point. This was designed as a fairly economical commercial quality table that would last forever, and catch people’s interest.

This table can of course be customized: A round and or wood top would soften the look, painted, chromed, brass or copper plated, use two bases to support a larger top, make it side or coffee table size, etc.

Priced around $1095, quantity discounts available. These are built to order and there is a lead time.

Vintage Industrial Train Trestle Side Table

Just finished a pair of these for a customer. The design is based on a european vintage piece. They are all steel, riveted together with a thick steel top and an aged rust finish. These would work well as side tables, outdoor tables, use a couple of the bases to hold a coffee or dining table top, or use as a display table for your pet elephant. These measure 22″ x 22″ x 24″ tall and weigh around 75 lbs each. I can make these in a variety of size, finishes, and use different materials for the tops. Prices are around $995 each.

Vintage Tolix Cafe Chairs

I now carry aged Tolix cafe chairs (made in France) available in white, red, gray, and custom colors. Example prices, 2 in standard color $440 each, 4 for $420 each, 8 for $395 each. These have some light rust and wear marks, and are triple sealed with a satin industrial outdoor clearcoat. Not available like this anywhere else. Shipping for 2 chairs to NY is $65, CA $50.

These are new Tolix chairs that I age, not antiques which can run $600+ each. They were designed back in the 1934 by Xavier Pauchard for Tolix and are lightweight, yet very sturdy, and stackable, making a perfect outdoor cafe chair. These are the Marais A design. I can also get the wider Marais A56 chair, stools, barstools, tables and more.

NY Side Table & Coffee Table

By | cafe table, coffee table, end table, side table | No Comments

With New York being a big inspiration for my designs, I set off to build a tribute to the amazing place. My clients in New York usually have a few things in common: they want something unique that has an industrial feel, it needs to be functional yet beautiful, and space is always an issue.

I feel these pieces meet all of those needs. They were built as 2 separate tables that can function as side or accent tables, yet when put together, they work as a coffee table. The custom font that I created makes them blocky as possible which leaves lots of top surface area. And they have latching doors so you can use them for storage (about 3.5 cubic feet each). You can also face the letters forward, or upwards. After I built them, I realized how heavy they were (120lbs approx). So these could be used as safes if I installed an optional lock.

Dimensions: 20″ x 20″ x 20″
Weight: 120 lbs each
Price: $1,350 for both

Dessert Truck Opens and 10,000 Website Hits

By | cafe table, end table, furniture | No Comments

One of my first customers opened their doors a couple weeks ago (story here). Now New Yorkers can see my work in person and get a 5 star dessert at the same place. Most of my pieces have shipped to New York, and since my shop is in Arizona, I hope this helps those in NY with their purchases. So if you are curious about my work, stop by, take a look, and get some dessert. Also, this customer did the stain and finish on the wood themselves which goes well with their maple benches. The benches were not my work, just the 5 cafe tables.

On another note, it seems my website is getting some decent traffic from people searching for vintage/industrial furniture. Last weekend my site reached 10,000 hits.

Industrial Side Table

I made this to resemble a tool stand from a mid-century industrial factory. After some research and experimenting , I came up with a new dark stain for this piece and I love it. It has a real vintage look to it with lots of character, and so I named it the “Grandpa Stain”. The riveted iron frame has been distressed to give it a good “been in factory for a while” look. And it has a metal lower shelf which has been riveted in to the frame. It measures 26″ tall x 16″ x 16″.

NYC Cafe Table Project

Just finished 5 cafe tables for a soon to be famous restaurant in NYC called DessertTruck. They started as a mobile dessert company selling 5 star desserts out of a truck. You may have seen them featured on the Foodnetwork during a Throwdown With Bobby Flay. Now they are trying something different and opening a restaurant on 6 Clinton street.

The tables came out very nice and are 20″ tall, wide, and high. They went with a 1.25″ thick butcher block style top and a natural patina on the steel.
