Industrial Workbench For Sale

By | furniture, workbench | No Comments

(SOLD)

I picked up a couple of these tables today. I am keeping one and selling the other. I was told this table was used by a Nascar team as a work table to rebuild their car. It is VERY heavy duty and will probably support a ton or more. The 36″ x 96″ top is made of 1/2″ thick steel and the frame is made of 3″ round tube. It has heavy duty casters that lock the wheel and the swivel part which make it pretty easy to move around considering it weighs about 800 lbs. The height is 36″ which makes it nice for standup work, bar table or outdoor table. The top also overhangs 6″ all the way around, and it has a storage shelf underneath that is 17.5″ x 78″. The frame is powder coated gray and the top is raw steel with the natural coating from the mill. They used a waterjet machine to cut the triangular bracing underneath. Asking $950 (SOLD) for this table, free pickup in Phoenix, I’d have to check on shipping but it’s probably around $350-475. I can finish the top with an industrial clearcoat if you would like. And I can also repaint this if you’d like another color. This was custom made in America and new was around $2,000.

Vintage Industrial Coffee Table / Dining Table with Adjustable Height

By | coffee table, dining table, furniture | 5 Comments

This table adjusts in height from 18″ to 30″ making it ideal for a coffee table or small dining table. And it’s so strong, that I could stand on the corner of the top and it would barely flex, so you could use it as a work table too. The threaded screw has a spinning lock underneath to keep it secure. This was a custom piece for a client, and I can remake it or change things around. The top is 3/16″ thick steel and 40″ x 40″ with a 1″ x 2″ boxed frame underneath. Price would be around $1075.

And here is a slightly smaller version with a 30″ x 30″ wood top. This was built as a cafe table / dining table for Smith Commons restaurant in DC.

Reclaimed Mahogany and Some Old Tables

By | furniture, reclaimed wood | No Comments

I found a small supply of reclaimed mahogany today (4/4 or 1″ thick). Back in 1912 it was installed as bleacher seats at a school in New Mexico so I’d guess it to be 2-300 years old. It’s been planed down and has some signs of age, plus holes here and there from the old screws that held the seats down. I can’t wait to get it on a piece, maybe a desk?

I also bought old two tables. One is coffee table size, has a metal base and an ugly square top which I will be replacing probably with some of the mahogany. And my wife spotted this one, an 8′ long oak table probably from the 40s that was used in a school. It’s going to be gorgeous once we refinish it. It would be nice as a dining or work table.

Vintage Industrial Chair / Bar Stool

By | chair, furniture, seating | One Comment

Prototype chair base that adjusts in height from 18″ – 31″. It swivels or locks into place and will work for a dining table, as well as a bar stool. I’m not sure if I am using steel or wood for the seat, we’ll see. But it definately has that industrial factory look. Reminds me an old jack stand or some kind of press.

New Projects and a Trip to NY

By | furniture | No Comments

There are several new projects in the works right now. I’m making 6 Manhattan design tables with unique features. I got hold of some tractor paint today so I’ll probably make a John Deere green table along with a vintage Caterpillar yellow table. And a polished console table with a metal top. I just found somebody local that has a plasma CNC machine which can precision cut letters, or anything for that matter. So I am going to try cutting METRO on a metal top, and possibly an all metal NY table which I am pretty excited about. It would be big letters that would work as separate side tables, or combined to make a coffee table.

Hopefully next month I’m going to NY, for the first time I might add. Might be there for a week checking out the city, as well as marketing my wife’s bridal line. Can’t wait to go!

New Design Ideas

By | furniture | No Comments

I’ve been feeling inspired lately and have been coming up with new design ideas all day long, maybe 10 a day. So I decided that I need to start writing them down because I can’t remember them all! Don’t know how I’ll make all these designs, but it will be nice to refer to when I get some downtime. One idea I am really excited about is to make some lamps and lighting.

50k hits

This website reached 50k hits this week! Pretty amazing! I’ve been chatting with editors working on getting featured in a home magazine. If and when that happens, this business is going to really take off. And so I realized that I love this business and want to grow!

New Coffee Table Based on the Media Console

By | coffee table, furniture | One Comment

Working on a couple coffee tables based on my media console design. Hope to have one of them ready in about 10 days. Size is going to be 40″ x 20″ x 18.5″ tall. One will have the cabinet doors, and the other probably won’t. This would also work well as a low TV stand. They’ll have the same 6″ casters and will be uber heavy, about 125 lbs. Price will start around $795.

Now I just need to come up with a name for this design line! Here is a photoshop cut and paste of how it might look.

The Manhattan Table – New Collection

By | end table, furniture, side table | No Comments

The other day I was looking at New York bridges and felt inspired to create a new design. I call this new piece the Manhattan table, named after the Manhattan bridge. It uses angle iron in a unique way, which lends itself to a strong structural design, while using less material. And I love the combination of cross braces, rivets, and bolts. It measures 11″ x 12″ x 23.5″ tall, has a raw steel patina, and a mahogany top with a dark vintage stain. Stay tuned for a Manhattan coffee table! This vintage industrial design would price around $350.

Chrome and Copper Plating Furniture

By | finishes / options, furniture | No Comments

I had a customer ask about chroming a desk today. Wow, a chrome desk? Sounds interesting, and shiny, and I like shiny things! So I looked into pricing which was $250-$350 for a media console or desk. And they can do brushed chrome or nickel and polished chrome, nickel or COPPER! So my mind has been running, what would look good chrome or copper?! One thought is a making a media console with a polished copper frame, and chrome lower cabinet/doors and casters. Then put a butcher block top on it to make it a rolling island. Or maybe a chrome Brooklyn coffee table? A copper desk with chrome wheels? Hmm, the possiblities are endless.

This would change the style of these pieces a bit, probably more mid-century modern.
