The designer was inspired to create the Trias table while wandering the streets of Paris. And last, but not least, is the Geo table. Vintage industrial meets modern, the Geo table is made up of 6 steel plates per section to form a hexagon. It is available in dining and bar height, with various top surfaces. Visit the product page for more info.

What’s going on at Vintage Industrial

We’re revamping our website finally! So expect that sometime next month. I’ve been updating it myself for 3 years and we’re finally getting some professional help!! My days as a web designer / furniture designer / fabricator / janitor / salesman / bookkeeper / everything are over! I’m focusing on design now which is my passion.

We’ll have a better shopping cart to easier facilitate online transactions and track orders. And it’ll look professional which is something I know we’re lacking. So stay tuned. Below are some new things in the shop…

Here’s a Bronx table we just finished this week. It has a 7′ x 40″ steel top and is a real looker. I actually like the steel top better than the wood on this design.

The Penn Desk

Here’s a revamped vintage design built as a hostess stand, or a tall desk. It has brass accents, a walnut top and shelf, locking drawer, and will have a miriade of available options. There’s more info on our desk page.

A Frame Dining Table and Benches – $6750

Here’s a good example of custom work we can do. Our client wanted some matching benches for his A Frame table and here’s the end result. The benches are 2″ thick mahogany each with 2 big connecting screws/nuts to tie it to the table. Pricing is for a 84″ x 40″ table and two 72″ long benches as pictured.

Aged Paint Process on a Few Designs

We made a couple interesting pieces last month, a green Crank Desk, a red Crank Table, and a red Hure base set. I’ve had more requests for aged paint jobs after people saw how it looked on the Bronx table. Many ask me where I found these vintage pieces and are surprised when I tell them we just made them. That’s the highest compliment for me!

Our Work at the Four Seasons Restaurant Proof

Proof just opened up in Scottsdale at the Four Seasons Troon North. We had a lot fun designing and building the pieces for them. We built 2 special tables which were modeled after an old train cart. They roll on a steel track (flush with floor) like a real train, and can be pushed together, or moved outside. One of the worn oak tops has our crank mechanism and adjusts in height. They weigh in around 550 lbs each. We also built a bunch of our fixed height swiveling Wright bar chairs.

This is a good example of what we can do with just an idea from a client.

New Stool and Locker

Here are a couple new designs we just finished.

I’m Bored Bar Stool

This new bar stool is a little different from our norm. It has a little modernness to it which seems to go well with the vintage industrial part. As usual, it’s overbuilt. The seat is made from round tubes which is actually pretty comfy, and the back is mahogany. The rest is all aged steel including the 1″ threaded foot rest.  Below is a price estimate:

Vintage Industrial Locker

We can make this in any size/configuration that you need. The one pictured has 5 heavy duty mesh doors and measures 8′ w x 15″ d x 32″ t. It would price at $3450 as pictured.

Vintage Industrial’s Train Table

Working on a fun project for the 4 Seasons. We designed and are building 2 train style tables, one that adjusts in height. And they ride in a custom track that is built into the floor, so they can be moved outside, or pushed together for parties. Stay tuned for more pictures.

This bases sports 12″ wheels that we built in-house, and should weigh around 1/2 a ton when finished.

Vintage Industrial’s Showroom

We’re planning on opening up our first showroom next month in late October around our 3 year anniversary. With so much to do, we’ll have a soft opening to start, and a grand opening party sometime later in the year. Like our furniture, it’s going to be an original space like no other in the world, with 7000sf to work with, and a bunch of it being a private working showroom (by appointment) with our offices as part of the show. On the list to add is a conference room, restaurant setups, a dining room and chandelier, retail merchandising setups, several new designs/prototypes, jewelry, VI shirts, art, and a bunch bunch more.  Our downtown address is 45 West Buchanan Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004.

Architects Crank Table in stock

I had a client upgrade their Crank desk to a larger Bronx table, so we took this in trade. It’s unique, being that the top tilts, which makes it great for drawing. The 60″ x 32″ cherry top has metal trim and a pop-up paper stop to hold your work in place while tilted. And it has locking casters on the bottom. Priced at $7000 and it won’t last long.

Our work at Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen and Bar

I’m proud to show pictures of some of the work we did for Guy Fieri’s new NYC restaurant.  Our crew worked some long hours to get this done on time.  They are slated to open this Monday in Time Square. The 16k square foot restaurant seats 500! Sim and Greg will be flying to NYC soon to visit the restaurant and get a much needed vacation! More coverage here.

The red shelf was built as a back bar and was 24′ wide x 14′ tall.

We used 3 large Ellis consoles as the base for this custom Ironworker shelving unit. It spanned 25′ wide x 14′ tall, weighed around a ton, and was fabbed in Phoenix and then shipped to NYC.

MGM Casino in Motorcity

Earlier this year, MGM designers came to us looking for some pieces to fill their restaurant. They used our designs and website as inspiration for the space, which was very flattering. Sim and I will be heading down there later this month to see the space in person and get some pictures. The restaurant opens in late September 2012 (Motorcity MGM Casino).

We ended up building several special I Beam bar height bases which have space for beer conduit running through the center up to the top. So partons will be able to serve themselves alcohol from the table top bar taps. And I Beams have a door so they can service the conduit in the interior.

They needed some storage and display too, so we built a couple Ellis sideboards with  308 shelving above. One of those will divide the private dining area from the restaurant and is wrapped in glass, with cutouts on the shelves for glass, LED lighting on top, and locking doors. It was a complicated piece that came out amazing. The pics don’t do it justice here.

They needed some seating to match, so we modified our Wright chair and added extra lumbar support for comfort.

Our client needed some architectural details to divide the space, so we built several of these custom lattice panels. The 14 panels contained a total of 4,500 rivets. It was a lot of work, but it was well worth it.

A good part of our business now is building furniture for offices, everything from Conference Tables to Filing Cabinets. We’ve made conference tables anywhere from 8 ‘ to 27’ long. Made with pride in America, our conference tables are like no others. Built to last into the next century, yet look like they were made in the early 1900s, a time when craftsmen put their all into work. So I created a page with info on what we can do along with specs and pictures.

We do have a lead time of at 6-12 weeks typically, so plan ahead! Don’t expect a custom table in 1 week, and we ship everywhere including Europe…

DCR (Dry Cleaning Rack) Table, 150″ x 36″ black top, solid cherry 2nd tier top, steel cubbies underneath 2nd tier, aged brass dry cleaning rack above that rotates. This unit weighs around 800 lbs and was the center showpiece for a million dollar clothing store. It’s aged from top to bottom and will hold a ton of merchandise. Chandelier – I have 2 of these and I am keeping one for myself! These are the most amazing chandeliers I’ve ever seen. The crystals are huge and all unique, with the bottom ball weighing around 5 lbs. The aged look is truly stunning. I’ll have these in my shop in around 2-3 weeks.

Vintage Industrial Retail Fixtures 50% Off

Bronx Crank Table

Our latest crank table is finished! It features two massive 5 ton screw mechanisms that support and adjust the top height (30″ to 45″), as well as two 12″ cast iron crank handles. Turn either crank handle to raise or lower the top. The base has 200+ rivets and bolts and is made from extra heavy duty gauge steel. It has an aged red finish, and a solid cherry wood top with metal trim. If you’re looking for a unique vintage industrial inspired table that will blow you and your guests away, well maybe this one is for you. Built to last 100+ years.

Most of the Industrial style furniture you find on the internet and in stores is made in Asia, mainly India and China. Often the quality is not so good. And the designs are often copies of somebody else’s work (like mine). So if you are thinking of buying elsewhere, I suggest you ask the shop owner where the piece was made. We’ve been doing this since 2009 and have such notable clients such as: MGM, Doubletree, Hyatt, The Four Seasons, and many more commercial establishments.

New Designs by Vintage Industrial

We’ve been really busy the past few weeks doing some big jobs and getting the shop organized to run more efficiently. Take a look at the red shelving system we made for celebrity chef Guy Fieri’s restaurant that’ll be opening up soon in Time Square. It’s 24′ wide x 14′ tall and was powdercoated red and aged back to give it a 1950s feel. We’ll be making another shelf shortly for the same restaurant, but in a different style, so stay tuned. I’ll get installed photos too. It’s modular which makes it easy to ship and install.

We made some I Beam bases for the MGM Casino in Detroit which had extra rivets, and doors to access the inside. They are going in the bar area and will have beer taps routed through the center so the patrons will have self-service beer, in other words, beer taps on the bar tables!

And here is a sneak peak at our new Ellis shelf design. It’s made with the Ellis steel frame, and aged solid cherry wood on the sides and shelves. This one is 48″ wide x 16″ deep x 78″ tall, although it can be made in any size, and weighs in at 175 lbs (the cherry wood is heavy). This can also be enclosed like the original Ellis console with added doors. Caster would look nice too. Still working on pricing, and I’ll have better pics soon.
